Google My Business is now Google Business Profile

Google My Business is now Google Business Profile: How will this affect Property Management?

Google is continuing to try to make everyone’s life easier by rolling out the rebranding of “Google My Business”. Although this is a brand new development, the unknown of change can cause worry and assumptions. Luckily, we have done some research and are on top of this change.

Managing One Property

With this update, users will now be able to manage a singular Google Business Profile by simply looking up their location through Google Search or Google Maps. In the coming months, Google will also begin to allow users who create or claim Business Profiles on Google to complete their setup directly on Google Search and Maps. So now, you can edit the information that people see when they search for your property!

Managing Multiple Properties

You may be thinking, “Okay, this is great, but I am over a handful of properties! How am I going to manage my portfolio?” Well, I have some good news for you.

According to Search Engine Land, the existing Google My Business web experience will transition to primarily support larger businesses with multiple locations”. It is reported that this tool will be renamed to “Business Profile Manager.” Although it is reported that the dashboard will be very similar, we don’t know what features will be changed or added. We do expect updates to the service in the upcoming months.

New Features

Aside from claiming and setting up a business profile through Google Search and Google Maps, Google has announced a couple of features that may be a game-changer for you.

Call History: This tool will allow you to track calls coming from Google Search and Maps.

Messaging: This tool will allow you to read & reply to messages from your Business Profile.

Moving Forward

In conclusion, these changes will not affect anything other than how you access your Google Business profile. If you oversee a single location, you have an easier way to manage your Google Business Profile. But, if you oversee a portfolio of locations you will still be using a dashboard similar to what is currently offered.

Google is constantly rolling out new features and updates, and Opiniion is here to make sure you are fully aware of what Google offers.
